Maryland High School Basketball - Smithsburg thwarts Catoctin
January 24, 2023: Smithsburg, MD 21783 The Smithsburg Leopards (Smithsburg, MD) basketball knocked off the visiting Catoctin Cougars (Thurmont, MD), 53-43 in Tuesday's league test.
The Leopards (8-5) will now prepare for their test against South Carroll (Sykesville, MD). The Cavaliers go into the non-league test with a 3-10 record. In their last test, South Carroll went down by Manchester Valley (Manchester, MD), 59-46, in a league test.
The Cougars now own a 1-7 record. They play next when they host Linganore for a non-league test on Thursday, January 26. Catoctin will encounter a Lancers squad coming off a 59-52 non-league loss to Oakdale (Ijamsville, MD). The Lancers record now stands at 8-7.
