Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Anson Bearcats (Wadesboro, NC), 55-40 in a league bout.

With the victory, Monroe upgrades its record to 12-4 on the campaign. The Redhawks travel to Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC) to play the Pirates in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 26. The Pirates come into the bout with a record of 6-12. Porter Ridge lost 37-30 in their recent league bout against Piedmont (Monroe, NC)

Next up, the Bearcats play the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets (Marshville, NC) in a 2A/3A Conference 44 bout, on Friday, January 28. Anson will attempt to upgrade on its 4-12 season record. The Yellow Jackets come into the bout with a 12-5 record after their 52-49 league loss to Parkwood (Monroe, NC).
