Pennsylvania High School Basketball - South Fayette can't hold off Mars
January 25, 2025: McDonald, PA 15057 Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host South Fayette Lions (McDonald, PA), 56-51 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Mars advances its record to 11-7 on the year. The Fightin' Planets travel to Montour (McKees Rocks, PA) to face the Spartans in a WPIAL 5A 4 match on Tuesday, January 28. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 15-1. Montour won 70-52 in their recent non-league match against Pine-Richland (Gibsonia, PA)
In their next game, the Lions encounter the Baldwin Highlanders (Pittsburgh, PA) in a WPIAL 5A 3 challenge, on Tuesday, January 28. South Fayette will attempt to improve on its 12-5 season record. The Highlanders come into the challenge with a 15-1 record after their 61-58 non-league win over North Hills (Pittsburgh, PA).
