Purvis Tornadoes (Purvis, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Columbia Wildcats (Columbia, MS), 66-52 in a league bout.

With the win, Purvis upgrades its record to 12-5 on the season. The Tornadoes travel to Lawrence County (Monticello, MS) to clash with the Cougars in a 4A Region 7 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 9-15. Lawrence County lost 56-53 in their recent league bout against Sumrall (Sumrall, MS)

Next up, the Wildcats clash with the Bay Tigers (Bay St. Louis, MS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Columbia will attempt to upgrade on its 9-13 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 4-20 record after their 48-19 non-league loss to Petal (Petal, MS).
