Texas High School Basketball - Austin knocked off by Akins
January 27, 2023: Austin, TX 78703 The Akins Eagles basketball team scored 57 points and held the host Austin Maroons to 48 in the Eagles league triumph on Friday.
The Eagles now sport a 12-15 record. They put it on the line next when they host Bowie for a 6A Region IV District 26 contest on Tuesday, January 31. Akins will meet a Bulldogs team coming off a 44-42 league loss to Johnson (Buda, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 15-10.
The Maroons (11-14) will now prepare for their contest against Westlake (Austin, TX). The Chaparrals enter the 6A Region IV District 26 contest with a 26-4 record. In their last contest, Westlake ran past Dripping Springs (Dripping Springs, TX), 52-39, in a league contest.
