The Alleghany Cougars defeated the visiting James River Knights basketball squad by a final score of 62-54 in Tuesday's league outing.

Next, the Cougars clash with the Radford Bobcats (Radford, VA) in a non-league outing, on Thursday, January 30. Alleghany will attempt to upgrade on its 11-3 season record. The Bobcats come into the outing with a 6-6 record after their 60-55 league win over Patrick County (Stuart, VA).

The Knights (14-2) will now prepare for their outing against Carroll County (Hillsville, VA). The Cavaliers come into the Three Rivers outing with a 1-15 record. In their last outing, Carroll County overcame Glenvar (Salem, VA), 45-27, in a league outing.
