In Wednesday's league contest, the host Scales Mound Hornets basketball team scored a close 64-62 triumph over the River Ridge Wildcats.

The Hornets (12-12) will now prepare for their contest against Polo (Polo, IL). The Marcos go into the non-league contest with a 9-11 record. In their last contest, Polo nipped Morrison (Morrison, IL), 50-40, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Wildcats battle the Galena Pirates (Galena, IL) in a Northwest Upstate Illini - West contest, on Friday, January 31. River Ridge will attempt to better on its 9-13 season record. The Pirates go into the contest with a 13-10 record after their 35-31 league loss to East Dubuque (East Dubuque, IL).
