January 3, 2023: Williamston, NC 27892

Bertie Falcons (Windsor, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Riverside-Martin Knights (Williamston, NC), 42-37 in a league bout.

With the victory, Bertie upgrades its record to 1-8 on the campaign. The Falcons travel to South Creek (Robersonville, NC) to play the Cougars in a 1A Conference 2 bout on Friday, January 6. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 0-7. South Creek lost 86-10 in their recent league bout against Washington County (Plymouth, NC)

Next up, the Knights play the Pamlico County Hurricanes (Bayboro, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Riverside-Martin will attempt to upgrade on its 0-7 season record. The Hurricanes come into the bout with a 2-6 record after their 37-35 non-league loss to Havelock (Havelock, NC).
