The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Valley Center Hornets (Valley Center, KS) and the visiting Salina Central Mustangs (Salina, KS), observed Valley Center's basketball team overwhelm Salina Central by a score of 73-52.

The Hornets (5-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Derby (Derby, KS). The Panthers come into the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail I challenge with a 5-0 record. In their last challenge, Derby trounced South (Salina, KS), 63-50, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Mustangs encounter the Andover Trojans (Andover, KS) in a Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail II challenge, on Tuesday, January 7.
