Virginia High School Basketball - Northumberland overwhelms Essex
January 30, 2024: Heathsville, VA 22473 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Northumberland Indians (Heathsville, VA) and the visiting Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA), saw Northumberland's basketball squad wallop Essex by a tally of 71-47.
With the victory, Northumberland improves its record to 9-5 on the campaign. The Indians host Westmoreland (Montross, VA) to confront the Eagles in a Northern Neck challenge on Friday, February 2. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 6-6. Westmoreland won 61-24 in their recent league challenge against Rappahannock (Warsaw, VA)
Next up, the Trojans confront the Colonial Beach Drifters (Colonial Beach, VA) in a Northern Neck challenge, on Thursday, February 1. Essex will attempt to improve on its 3-11 season record. The Drifters come into the challenge with a 8-8 record after their 51-45 league win over Rappahannock (Warsaw, VA).
