Westmoreland Eagles (Montross, VA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA), 68-53 in a league bout.

With the victory, Westmoreland upgrades its record to 9-7 on the campaign.

Next up, the Trojans play the Jamestown Eagles (Williamsburg, VA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 10. Essex will attempt to upgrade on its 5-14 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 7-12 record after their 74-50 league loss to Grafton (Yorktown, VA).
