North Carolina High School Basketball - Southern Wayne thwarts West Johnston

The Southern Wayne Saints (Dudley, NC) basketball knocked off the host West Johnston Wildcats (Benson, NC), 49-39 in Tuesday's league test.

The Saints (7-12) will now prepare for their test against Hunt (Wilson, NC). The Warriors go into the 3A Quad County test with a 8-10 record. In their last test, Hunt notched a victory over Smithfield-Selma (Smithfield, NC), 59-18, in a league test.

The Wildcats now own a 6-11 record. They play next when they travel to East Wake for a 3A Quad County test on Friday, February 2. West Johnston will encounter a Warriors squad coming off a 26-20 league loss to C.B. Aycock (Pikeville, NC). The Warriors record now stands at 3-14.
