In Friday's league contest, the visiting Mount Airy Granite Bears basketball team scored a big 64-40 triumph over the Starmount Rams.

The Granite Bears (8-10) will now prepare for their contest against North Stokes (Danbury, NC). The Vikings go into the 1A Northwest contest with a 12-8 record. In their last contest, North Stokes was trounced by Alleghany (Sparta, NC), 61-58, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Rams confront the Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC) in a 1A Northwest contest, on Tuesday, February 4. Starmount will attempt to better on its 2-18 season record. The Buckin' Elks go into the contest with a 9-11 record after their 66-59 non-league loss to Surry Central (Dobson, NC).
