The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys (Moneta, VA) and the host New Covenant Gryphons (Lynchburg, VA), observed Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's basketball team knock off New Covenant by a score of 51-31.

The Ospreys (12-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Timberlake Christian (Forest, VA). The Tornadoes come into the VISAA Division III challenge with a 5-8 record.

In their next game, the Gryphons encounter the Roanoke Catholic Celtics (Roanoke, VA) in a VISAA Blue Ridge challenge, on Tuesday, February 4. New Covenant will attempt to improve on its 10-7 season record.
