El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Merced Bears (Merced, CA), 51-37 in a league bout.

With the victory, El Capitan upgrades its record to 11-3 on the campaign. The Gauchos travel to Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA) to play the Thunder in a bout on Friday, January 6. The Thunder come into the bout with a record of 1-6. Buhach Colony lost 58-20 in their recent league bout against Golden Valley (Merced, CA)

Next up, the Bears play the Central Valley Hawks (Ceres, CA) in a bout, on Friday, January 6. Merced will attempt to upgrade on its 7-6 season record. The Hawks come into the bout with a 3-7 record after their 45-34 non-league win over Calaveras (San Andreas, CA).
