Alabama High School Basketball - Austin thwarts Mae Jemison
January 4, 2025: Decatur, AL 35601 The crowd at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Austin Black Bears (Decatur, AL) and the visiting Mae Jemison Jaguars (Huntsville, AL), observed Austin's basketball team knock off Mae Jemison by a score of 72-63.
The Black Bears (15-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Florence (Florence, AL). The Falcons come into the 7A Area 8 challenge with a 14-5 record. In their last challenge, Florence prevailed over Deshler (Tuscumbia, AL), 77-51, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Jaguars encounter the Hazel Green Trojans (Hazel Green, AL) in a 6A Area 16 challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Mae Jemison will attempt to improve on its 10-8 season record. The Trojans come into the challenge with a 12-10 record after their 54-50 league loss to Buckhorn (New Market, AL).
