Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Merced Bears (Merced, CA) and the visiting Central Valley Hawks (Ceres, CA), saw Merced's basketball squad hold off Central Valley by a tally of 69-65.

With the victory, Merced improves its record to 9-9 on the campaign. The Bears host Patterson (Patterson, CA) to confront the Tigers in a Central California Conference challenge on Monday, January 9. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 9-7. Patterson lost 56-41 in their recent league challenge against Atwater (Atwater, CA)

Next up, the Hawks confront the Atwater Falcons (Atwater, CA) in a Central California Conference test, on Monday, January 9. Central Valley will attempt to advance on its 6-10 season record. The Falcons go into the test with a 17-0 record after their 79-36 league win over Golden Valley (Merced, CA).
