O'Connell Buccaneers (Galveston, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host St. Joseph Catholic Eagles (Bryan, TX), 79-45 in a league bout.

With the victory, O'Connell upgrades its record to 13-7 on the campaign. The Buccaneers travel to Chinquapin (Highlands, TX) to play the Burrs in a TAPPS 2A District 6 bout on Saturday, January 7. The Burrs come into the bout with a record of 0-4. Chinquapin lost 55-8 in their recent league bout against Providence Classical (Spring, TX)

Next up, the Eagles play the Covenant Christian Cougars (Conroe, TX) in a TAPPS 2A District 6 battle, on Tuesday, January 10. St. Joseph Catholic will attempt to improve on its 1-13 season record. The Cougars come into the battle with a 10-8 record after their 62-51 league loss to Grace Christian Academy (Houston, TX).
