Mississippi High School Basketball - Simpson Academy can't hold off East Rankin Academy
January 7, 2025: Mendenhall, MS 39114 East Rankin Academy Patriots (Pelahatchie, MS) supporters left the game happy Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS), 55-49 in a league match.
With the victory, East Rankin Academy advances its record to 22-2 on the year. The Patriots travel to Copiah Academy (Gallman, MS) to face the Colonels in a non-league match on Thursday, January 9. The Colonels enter the match with a record of 3-14.
The Cougars now own a 15-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Wayne Academy for a MAIS 5A District 2 match on Thursday, January 9. Simpson Academy will face a Jaguars squad coming off a 57-37 league loss to Lamar (Meridian, MS). The Jaguars record now stands at 6-18.
