New Jersey High School Basketball - Long Branch holds off Matawan Regional
January 9, 2023: Long Branch, NJ 07740 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Long Branch Green Wave (Long Branch, NJ) and the visiting Matawan Regional Huskies (Aberdeen, NJ), saw Long Branch's basketball squad hold off Matawan Regional by a tally of 53-50.
With the victory, Long Branch improves its record to 2-8 on the campaign. The Green Wave host Holmdel (Holmdel, NJ) to confront the Hornets in a non-league challenge on Thursday, January 12. The Hornets come into the challenge with a record of 4-4. Holmdel won 70-61 in their recent league challenge against St. John-Vianney (Holmdel, NJ)
Next up, the Huskies confront the Freehold Boro Colonials (Freehold, NJ) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 11. Matawan Regional will attempt to improve on its 5-5 season record. The Colonials come into the challenge with a 2-5 record after their 39-30 league loss to Raritan (Hazlet, NJ).
