Virginia High School Basketball - Rye Cove holds off J.I. Burton
January 9, 2024: Clinchport, VA 24244 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Rye Cove Eagles (Clinchport, VA) and the visiting J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA), saw Rye Cove's basketball squad hold off J.I. Burton by a tally of 38-36.
With the victory, Rye Cove improves its record to 2-7 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Castlewood (Castlewood, VA) to confront the Blue Devils in a Cumberland challenge on Friday, January 12. The Blue Devils come into the challenge with a record of 4-10. Castlewood lost 59-54 in their recent league challenge against Thomas Walker (Ewing, VA)
Next up, the Black Raiders confront the Eastside Spartans (Coeburn, VA) in a Cumberland challenge, on Friday, January 12. J.I. Burton will attempt to improve on its 3-8 season record. The Spartans come into the challenge with a 4-8 record after their 51-43 league win over Twin Springs (Nickelsville, VA).
