Nevada High School Basketball - Amplus Academy bested by Cheyenne
January 9, 2025: North Las Vegas, NV 89032 Cheyenne Desert Shields (North Las Vegas, NV) supporters left the game happy Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad run past the visiting Amplus Academy Archers (Las Vegas, NV), 46-32 in a league match.
With the victory, Cheyenne advances its record to 3-5 on the year. The Desert Shields travel to Southeast Career Tech (Las Vegas, NV) to meet the Roadrunners in a 4A Sky match on Tuesday, January 14. The Roadrunners enter the match with a record of 5-11. Southeast Career Tech lost 65-19 in their recent league match against Legacy (North Las Vegas, NV)
With the loss, Amplus Academy falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Archers host Eldorado (Las Vegas, NV) to play the Firehawks in a 4A Sky bout on Tuesday, January 14. The Firehawks go into the bout with a record of 2-6.

Quarter 1:
Amplus guards played much better this game than in past division games.
Defensive pressure was good, fewer fouls, better decision making with the ball, fewer turnovers.
Amplus offense got more shots, but still struggled shooting the ball. Sophomore Forward Vanesa Rozniece continued her season long slump, shooting 4/22 from the field, mostly missed layups. This wasted a good defensive effort by the Lady Archers, who held Cheyenne to 19/80 FGs (24%). Those layups would have given Amplus the Win.
