October 16, 2021: Los Alamos, NM 87544 The Hope Christian Huskies topped the host Los Alamos Hilltoppers volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Huskies now have a 17-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Albuquerque Academy for a 4A District 6 test on Thursday, October 21.
The Hilltoppers (12-6) will now prepare for their test against Pojoaque Valley (Pojoaque, NM). The Elks/Elkettes enter the 4A District 2 test with a 12-6 record. In their last test, Pojoaque Valley gained a win over Espanola Valley (Espanola, NM), 3-0, in a league test.
Match Summary
The Toppers concluded a three game stretch in five days with a loss to the Hope Huskies on Saturday. The Toppers just could not close out games, up by 8 and 5 in two sets they lost. The Toppers had 19 unforced errors in the crucial first set, letting it slip away. The second set saw a team that just could not get on track. In set three they secured a close win and then with leads various times in the fourth set they had untimely hitting and serving errors and position errors that cost them the match. The Toppers bright spot again was Michelle Macias who seems to have found her stride as the Outside Hitter of choice for Angelina Passalacqua. Anna Kirkland continues to show her skills in the DS spot as well as quality serving. The Toppers will regroup quickly and head down to Pojoaque for a critical first place match up with the Elkettes on Tuesday night.
