New Mexico High School Volleyball - Moriarty edged by Los Alamos
October 14, 2021: Los Alamos, NM 87544 The Los Alamos Hilltoppers held off the visiting Moriarty Pintos volleyball team by a score of 3-2 in Thursday's league test.
The Hilltoppers now have a 12-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Hope Christian for a non-league test on Saturday, October 16. Los Alamos will confront a Huskies team coming off a 3-0 league win over Bernalillo (Bernalillo, NM). The Huskies record now stands at 16-2.
The Pintos (11-7) will now prepare for their test against Taos (Taos, NM). The Tigers enter the 4A District 2 test with a 6-6 record. In their last test, Taos was nudged by Los Alamos (Los Alamos, NM), 3-0, in a league test.
Match Summary
The Toppers earned a very focused win against the visiting Pintos from Moriarty on Thursday night. After dropping the first set with multiple hitting errors the Toppers reset and took sets 2 and 3 with a combination of on point passing from Anna Kirkland, Bella Aguilar and Bri Nieto. The Front row, led on this night, by Michelle Macias with 13 kills just kept pounding away at the Pintos blockers. After a slight let down and the erosion of a 6-0 lead in the 4th set the Toppers came out on fire in the final set to secure a convincing 15-7 final set victory to secure the match. Next up for the Toppers is a meeting with the Hope Huskies on Saturday afternoon in Griffith Gym.
