In Friday's league match, the visiting Union City Soaring Eagles football squad scored a close 7-6 victory over the Irvington Blue Knights.

The Soaring Eagles (4-3) will now prepare for their battle against Columbia (Maplewood, NJ). The Cougars go into the Super - Freedom White battle with a 3-4 record. In their last battle, Columbia was tipped by Bayonne (Bayonne, NJ), 41-3, in a league battle.

The Blue Knights now own a 3-5 record. They play next when they travel to Seton Hall Prep for a non-league match on Saturday, October 25. Irvington will confront a Pirates squad coming off a 40-7 non-league loss to Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ). The Pirates record now stands at 2-5.
