Massachusetts High School Volleyball - Belchertown over Taconic
October 23, 2023: Pittsfield, MA 01201 In Monday's non-league contest, the Belchertown Orioles (Belchertown, MA) volleyball squad knocked off the host Taconic Thunder (Pittsfield, MA), by a margin of 3-1.
Next up, the Orioles battle the Frontier Regional Red Hawks (South Deerfield, MA) in a non-league contest, on Wednesday, October 25. Belchertown will attempt to better on its 8-4 season record. The Red Hawks come into the contest with a 15-5 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Commerce (Springfield, MA).
With the loss, Taconic drops to 13-6 on the campaign.
Match Summary
I'm really proud of how well our 3 sophomore starters handled the pressure tonight in their first ever Western MA tournament match. Belchertown is a very strong team and they kept the pressure on us all night. We were able to take the first match 25-23, but then our unforced errors took us down in the next 2 sets 16-25, and 18-25. We made a run for it in the 4th set but just couldn't beat them to 25, and lost that set 22-25.
Natalia Dos Santos had a really impressive night with 35 digs, 4 kills and an ace. She really went all out tonight and her effort was truly motivating!
