Massachusetts High School Volleyball - Ware Taconic
September 21, 2023: Ware, MA 01082 The Taconic Thunder topped the host Ware Indians volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Thursday's league test.
The Thunder now have a 3-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lenox Memorial for a non-league test on Saturday, September 23. Taconic will confront a Millionaires team coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Pittsfield (Pittsfield, MA). The Millionaires record now stands at 3-3.
The Indians (2-3) will now prepare for their test against Franklin County Tech (Turners Falls, MA). The Eagles enter the non-league test with a 3-2 record. In their last test, Franklin County Tech gained a win over Pioneer Valley Regional (Northfield, MA), 3-0, in a league test.
Match Summary
The Thunder remains undefeated on the road with a 3-1 victory tonight at Ware. Ware took the first set 26-24 which sparked a sense of desperation for Taconic in the second set giving us a 25-10 victory. We struggled with our serving in the first set giving Ware 8 free points which played a huge part in their win. Our serving improved as the match went on, and Ella Stodden deserves a big shout out for her powerful and consistent serving which earned her 13 aces on the night. Ella was 1 dig away from earning a triple double as she ended the night with 9 digs, 13 aces, 10 assists and 4 kills!
The 3rd and 4th sets were much closer and we were able to hang on to late leads in those sets that were back and forth. 25-20, 25-18
We had 8 players earn kills tonight with a well spread out offensive attack. Nevaeh Williams had 7 and Jadyn Galliher earned 6 to go with her 6 aces.
Natalia Dos Santos had a big night as well with 29 digs, 1 ace, 4 kills and 3 assists
