Massachusetts High School Volleyball - Taconic tips Putnam Vo-Tech
October 16, 2023: Pittsfield, MA 01201 Taconic Thunder (Pittsfield, MA) supporters left the game in high spirits Monday as they observed their volleyball squad hold off the visiting Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers (Springfield, MA), 3-2 in a league match.
Next up, the Thunder battle the Ware Indians (Ware, MA) in a Pioneer Valley - Central match, on Tuesday, October 17. Taconic will attempt to advance on its 11-5 season record.
With the loss, Putnam Vo-Tech drops to 5-1 on the campaign. The Beavers host Holyoke (Holyoke, MA) to battle the Purple Knights in a Pioneer Valley - Central match on Tuesday, October 17. The Purple Knights come into the match with a record of 3-3. Holyoke lost 3-0 in their recent league match against Taconic (Pittsfield, MA)
Match Summary
We really brought it to the gym tonight outlasting the relentless Putnam Beavers in 5 sets! I'm really proud of how we bounced back from a tough loss to Amherst Friday night. Beating an undefeated team feels great, and ever since the Berkshire county league was broken up, Putnam has been the team that we've needed to beat. This puts our record at 11-5, and builds our confidence as we finish up with our regular season matches.
Jadyn Galliher, (26 digs), and Ella Stodden, (26 assists), had big a big night tonight with them both getting double doubles and both leading the team in aces with 4 each. Natalia Dos Santos once again was really impressive defensively with 39 digs passing up hard driven balls with her hands, chasing down balls, directing the backcourt and popping up more diving pancakes. Jadyn led the team with 10 kills and Janayah Jones had 8.
