Poth Pirates (Poth, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they witnessed their volleyball team overcome the host Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX), 3-0 in a league challenge.

The Pirates (19-14) will now prepare for their challenge against Luling (Luling, TX). The Eagles come into the 3A Region IV District 26 challenge with a 2-19 record. In their last challenge, Luling was beaten by Goliad (Goliad, TX), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Mustangs meet the Stockdale Brahmas (Stockdale, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 26 challenge, on Tuesday, October 7. Nixon-Smiley will attempt to upgrade on its 11-16 season record. The Brahmas come into the challenge with a 28-9 record after their 3-0 league win over Karnes City (Karnes City, TX).
