Melrose Buffaloes (Melrose, NM) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team triumph over the host Gateway Christian Warriors (Roswell, NM), 62-16 in a league battle.

With the win, Melrose improves its record to 7-0 on the season. The Buffaloes host Mescalero Apache (Mescalero, NM) to play the Chiefs in a 8-Man District 3 (8 Man) battle on Friday, October 11. The Chiefs go into the battle with a record of 3-3. Mescalero Apache won 41-20 in their recent league battle against Lordsburg (Lordsburg, NM)

The Warriors now have a 4-2 record. They play next when they travel to Tatum for a 8-Man District 3 (8 Man) battle on Friday, October 11. Gateway Christian will play a Coyotes team coming off a 52-14 league loss to Mesilla Valley Christian School (Las Cruces, NM). The Coyotes record now stands at 4-3.
