Weslaco Panthers (Weslaco, TX) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX), 58-41 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Weslaco upgrades its record to 9-10 on the season. The Panthers host United South (Laredo, TX) to clash with the Panthers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 13. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 13-6. United South won 57-25 in their recent non-league bout against Brazosport (Freeport, TX)

Next up, the Tigers clash with the Harlingen Cardinals (Harlingen, TX) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 10. Mercedes will attempt to upgrade on its 8-8 season record. The Cardinals go into the bout with a 4-12 record after their 52-49 non-league loss to Sharyland (Mission, TX).
