Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Harlingen Cardinals (Harlingen, TX), 76-66 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mercedes upgrades its record to 8-8 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Porter (Brownsville, TX) to play the Cowboys in a 5A Region IV District 32 bout on Tuesday, December 13. The Cowboys come into the bout with a record of 5-9. Porter lost 68-48 in their recent non-league bout against Santa Maria (Santa Maria, TX)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears (San Juan, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 13. Harlingen will attempt to upgrade on its 5-14 season record. The Bears come into the bout with a 8-11 record after their 48-32 non-league loss to Corpus Christi Moody (Corpus Christi, TX).
