In Friday's non-league test, the Midland Trail Patriots (Hico, WV) basketball squad knocked off the host Summers County Bobcats (Hinton, WV), by a score of 63-50.

Next, the Patriots encounter the Greenbrier West Cavaliers (Charmco, WV) in a Coalfield A test, on Tuesday, December 17. Midland Trail will attempt to improve on its 1-1 season record. The Cavaliers come into the test with a 1-0 record after their 93-38 league win over Meadow Bridge (Meadow Bridge, WV).
