In Monday's league test, the Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL) basketball squad defeated the visiting Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), by a final score of 41-25.

Next, the Miners clash with the Calhoun Warriors (Hardin, IL) in a non-league test, on Saturday, December 21. Gillespie will attempt to upgrade on its 9-3 season record. The Warriors come into the test with a 0-2 record after their 52-47 non-league loss to Pittsfield (Pittsfield, IL).
