Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Merino Rams (Merino, CO) and the visiting Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs (Haxtun, CO), saw Merino's basketball squad hold off Haxtun by a tally of 61-59.

With the victory, Merino improves its record to 3-1 on the campaign. The Rams host Wray (Wray, CO) to play the Eagles in a 3A/2A Lower Platte challenge on Friday, January 6. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 2-3. Wray won 64-40 in their recent non-league challenge against Chase County (Imperial, NE)

Next up, the Fightin' Bulldogs play the Prairie Mustangs (New Raymer, CO) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 6. Haxtun will attempt to improve on its 4-1 season record. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 51-35 non-league loss to Haxtun (Haxtun, CO).
