The Martins Ferry Purple Riders basketball team scored 56 points and held the host Union Local Jets to 51 in the Purple Riders league triumph on Friday.

The Purple Riders now sport a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Buckeye Local for a Buckeye 8 contest on Tuesday, December 13.

The Jets (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against St. Clairsville (St. Clairsville, OH). The Red Devils enter the Buckeye 8 contest with a 0-2 record. In their last contest, St. Clairsville was nudged by Indian Valley (Gnadenhutten, OH), 61-47, in a non-league contest.
