In Friday's non-league contest, the host Southwestern Piasa Birds basketball team scored a close 56-49 triumph over the Dupo Tigers.

The Piasa Birds (8-7) will now prepare for their contest against Valmeyer (Valmeyer, IL). The Pirates go into the non-league contest with a 1-2 record. In their last contest, Valmeyer nipped Mt. Olive (Mt. Olive, IL), 42-26, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Tigers confront the First Baptist Academy (O'Fallon, IL) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, January 7. Dupo will attempt to better on its 0-6 season record. The go into the contest with a 4-7 record after their 49-48 non-league loss to Mt. Olive (Mt. Olive, IL).
