In Saturday's non-league test, the Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) basketball squad felled the visiting SIUE East St. Louis Charter Cougars (East St. Louis, IL), by a final score of 48-36.

With the victory, Southwestern upgrades its record to 9-8 on the year. The Piasa Birds travel to Bunker Hill (Bunker Hill, IL) to face the Minutemen in a non-league match on Tuesday, January 7. The Minutemen enter the match with a record of 2-10.

The Cougars now sport a 2-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Riverview Gardens for a non-league match on Thursday, January 9.
