Helix Highlanders (La Mesa, CA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Steele Canyon Cougars (Spring Valley, CA), 40-35 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Helix upgrades its record to 8-3 on the season. The Highlanders travel to Central (El Centro, CA) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 29. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 7-7. Central won 38-33 in their recent non-league bout against Crawford (San Diego, CA)

Next up, the Cougars play the Sweetwater Red Devils (National City, CA) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 29. Steele Canyon will attempt to upgrade on its 11-2 season record. The Red Devils go into the bout with a 1-6 record after their 54-37 non-league loss to Hoover (San Diego, CA).
