South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Newton-Conover Red Devils (Newton, NC), 52-36 in a non-league bout.

With the win, South Caldwell upgrades its record to 9-4 on the season. The Spartans travel to Maiden (Maiden, NC) to play the Blue Devils in a non-league bout on Friday, December 29. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a record of 3-6. Maiden won 60-42 in their recent non-league bout against Bunker Hill (Claremont, NC)

Next up, the Red Devils play the Bunker Hill Bears (Claremont, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 29. Newton-Conover will attempt to upgrade on its 1-10 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 3-7 record after their 60-42 non-league loss to Maiden (Maiden, NC).
