The Ascend Leadership Aviators basketball squad (Sanford, NC), was crushed 62-14 in Saturday's non-league battle with the visiting West Brunswick Trojans (Shallotte, NC)

With the victory, West Brunswick advances its record to 7-5 on the year. The Trojans host North Brunswick (Leland, NC) to meet the Scorpions in a 3A/4A Mideastern battle on Friday, January 3. The Scorpions enter the battle with a record of 2-5. North Brunswick lost 68-16 in their recent non-league battle against Carolina Forest (Myrtle Beach, SC)

The Aviators now own a 1-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Southern Wake Academy for a 1A Central Tar Heel battle on Tuesday, January 7. Ascend Leadership will meet a Lions squad coming off a 47-23 league loss to Clover Garden School (Burlington, NC). The Lions record now stands at 2-5.
