Maine High School Basketball - Spruce Mountain triumphant over Monmouth Academy
December 31, 2024: Monmouth, ME 04259 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Spruce Mountain Phoenix (Jay, ME) and the host Monmouth Academy Mustangs (Monmouth, ME), observed Spruce Mountain's basketball team overwhelm Monmouth Academy by a score of 58-34.
The Phoenix (7-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Medomak Valley (Waldoboro, ME). The Panthers come into the B South challenge with a 4-2 record. In their last challenge, Medomak Valley was routed by Mt. Ararat (Topsham, ME), 51-42, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Mustangs encounter the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls (Old Orchard Beach, ME) in a C South challenge, on Friday, January 3. Monmouth Academy will attempt to improve on its 4-5 season record. The Seagulls come into the challenge with a 1-6 record after their 56-31 league loss to Madison (Madison, ME).
