In Friday's non-league match, the host Independence Patriots basketball team scored a good 65-56 triumph over the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos.

In their next game, the Patriots meet the Buckeye Hawks (Buckeye, AZ) in a 5A Central Valley match, on Monday, December 11. Independence will attempt to improve on its 3-7 season record. The Hawks come into the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 93-60 non-league loss to Canyon View (Waddell, AZ).
