The Galena Pirates basketball team scored 54 points and held the visiting River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats to 45 in the Pirates league triumph on Wednesday.

The Pirates now sport a 27-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Warren for a Northwest Upstate Illini - West contest on Friday, February 3. Galena will battle a Warriors team coming off a 43-28 league loss to East Dubuque (East Dubuque, IL). The Warriors record now stands at 14-13.

The Wildcats (23-5) will now prepare for their contest against West Carroll (Savanna, IL). The Thunder enter the Northwest Upstate Illini - West contest with a 6-20 record. In their last contest, West Carroll was defeated by Stockton (Stockton, IL), 42-39, in a league contest.
