New Mexico High School Basketball - Thoreau overwhelms Newcomb
February 1, 2023: Thoreau, NM 87323 Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM) and the visiting Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM), saw Thoreau's basketball squad wallop Newcomb by a count of 46-23.
With the victory, Thoreau upgrades its record to 13-7 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM) to play the Eagles in a 3A District 1 challenge on Friday, February 3. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 18-3. Navajo Prep won 41-33 in their recent league challenge against Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM)
Next up, the Skyhawks play the Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) in a 3A District 1 challenge, on Wednesday, February 8. Newcomb will attempt to upgrade on its 6-10 season record. The Bears come into the challenge with a 5-15 record after their 69-44 league loss to Zuni (Zuni, NM).
