In Tuesday's non-league match, the visiting Vela Sabercats basketball team scored a decisive 75-25 triumph over the Weslaco East Wildcats.

In their next game, the Sabercats meet the Flour Bluff Hornets (Corpus Christi, TX) in a non-league match, on Thursday, February 16. Vela will attempt to move on its 29-4 season record. The Hornets enter the match with a 23-5 record after their 50-32 non-league win over Nixon (Laredo, TX).
