Ottawa Pirates (Ottawa, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Sandwich Indians (Sandwich, IL), 59-51 in a league bout.

With the victory, Ottawa upgrades its record to 16-10 on the campaign.

Next up, the Indians confront the Genoa-Kingston Cogs (Genoa, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, February 19. Sandwich will attempt to improve on its 1-28 season record. The Cogs come into the challenge with a 21-9 record after their 43-36 non-league win over Sycamore (Sycamore, IL).
