New Mexico High School Basketball - Mayfield nips Gadsden
February 20, 2024: Las Cruces, NM 88007 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Mayfield Trojans (Las Cruces, NM) and the visiting Gadsden Panthers (Anthony, NM), saw Mayfield's basketball squad hold off Gadsden by a count of 55-51.
With the victory, Mayfield upgrades its record to 6-18 on the campaign. The Trojans host Organ Mountain (Las Cruces, NM) to play the Knights in a 5A District 3 challenge on Friday, February 23. The Knights come into the challenge with a record of 23-1. Organ Mountain won 51-48 in their recent league challenge against Centennial (Las Cruces, NM)
Next up, the Panthers play the Alamogordo Tigers (Alamogordo, NM) in a 5A District 3 challenge, on Friday, February 23. Gadsden will attempt to upgrade on its 6-17 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 16-9 record after their 52-45 league win over Las Cruces (Las Cruces, NM).
