Match Summary
Opening night in the Cougadome was an extremely hard fought affair. After trading blows with convincing wins in sets 1 & 2, set 3 was a knock down drag 'em out battle. Each team held off several game points but at the final whistle Lake Balboa was victorious. You never want to celebrate too hard too soon. There was still a lot of ball to play against a team that had just put up a whale of a fight only to lose by a whisker. After leading 12-10 LBCP went flat & found themselves trailing 14-20 but then surged back 20-21. Community Charter then made a run of 4 points to win a very pivotal set. Lake Balboa played to not lose while the Titans hammered away at the Cougar defense. Trading digs versus spikes is always a losing proposition. You have to be able to return fire. History repeated itself as the score was locked at 12 all before another 3 point run gave Community Charter the win. With any combination of 3 more kills or digs in set 5 the result would be different. It was that close.
