The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the La Joya Coyotes (La Joya, TX) and the host Economedes Jaguars (Edinburg, TX), observed La Joya's basketball team edge Economedes by a score of 59-54.

The Coyotes (15-17) will now prepare for their battle against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (San Juan, TX). The Bears enter the 6A Region IV District 31 battle with a 14-17 record. In their last battle, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo was nudged by Edinburg North (Edinburg, TX), 74-47, in a league battle.

The Jaguars now own a 13-18 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Weslaco for a 6A Region IV District 31 challenge on Tuesday, February 10. Economedes will battle a Panthers team coming off a 63-47 league win over Edinburg (Edinburg, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 25-9.
